Demeter and Hestia - Gods of Olympus by LorenzoLivrieri Demeter and Hestia - Gods of Olympus by LorenzoLivrieri
These are the last two of the twelve Olympians, guys! Meet Demeter and her elder sister Hestia. :D
Demeter is the goddess of agriculture and harvest, while Hestia is the goddess of family and domesticity.

There aren't many interesting anecdotes about them, really. Just the fact that Demeter's daughter, Persephone, was the protagonist of a myth involving her: one day Persephone was abducted by Hades, who decided to marry her and make her the queen of the Underworld. Her mother Demeter never stopped looking for her until the day she finally did it and made a deal with Hades, which garanteed that Persephone could leave the Underworld for some at least some months every year.
I drew Demeter while holding a Cornucopia, a peculiar casket full of fruits and flowers that also symbolizes her. There are also some pigs running around her and her sister, because they use to symblize Demeter too.

Hestia was the eldest sister amongst the others, so I wanted to make her look like a very old and wise lady.
I also was inspired by a statue of her to make her dress. I wanted the fabric to be very dark in colour because she also reminded me of those old women who dressed with black dresses, most of the times for religious reasons.

We did it! The Olympians are over! :D
But! In case you've been wondering, the Greek-related drawings are not over. There's still an enormous bunch of characters and mythical creatures/monsters that I've been preparing during these last months, and so there'll be many more to come. I can't wait to show you them all. :D
Meanwhile, I hope you liked these final two deities. Tell me what you think of them in the comments, and tell me if you enjoyed the series while it lasted. See you with the next drawing! ;)

They look so adorable! I admire your skill at drawing different types of people yet managing to make them look good. :D

Sometimes you have to pay attention to not make them look too weird and to not overdo their features. But my first rule with these characters is having fun and experimenting nonetheless. :D

The first thing I did was to take a good look at all of them side by side. They all look even better as a group! La la la la
Both Demeter and Hestia look so motherly and sweet, specially Demeter. I would be interesting to see her interacting with gloomy Hades,  both in an argument over a confused Persephone. XD
And I must say I had never seen someone take the thing with Hestia being the eldest so literally, it was quite a nice surprise haha. Great job as always! :D (Big Grin)

Thank you very much, I'm happy to hear that they look god together. ^^
I was thinking of drawing different "scenes" in which the characters interact, following the deeds in the myths, of course, and the Demeter-Hades-Persephone thing might really happen!
Yup I went pretty literal with Hestia. It might sound weird but I enjoy drawing old ladies and nannies, they look cute. X)

Demeter looks like she is an amazing woman ... she justl ooks very sweet and motherly
I've always like Demeter, just because her powers aren't over the top and she represents agricultural.

Hestia well I don't know a lot about her but she looks like she is a lovely grandma type of person :D

Im always excited for something coming up , always some nice stuff in between :D
